Digital

El término digital se refiere a la tecnología electrónica utilizada para generar, almacenar y procesar datos. Los datos pueden dividirse en positivos y no positivos. Los datos positivos se representan con el número 1 y los no positivos con el número 0. Cuando los datos se almacenan o transmiten, se comunican como una cadena de 1's o 0's. Cada uno de estos números se asigna como un bit. Cuando una cadena de bits se agrupa, se denomina byte.

Antes del auge de la digitalización, la tecnología analógica era la principal utilizada para transmitir la electricidad. Esta forma de tecnología comunica los datos en forma de señales electrónicas, con diferentes amplitudes y frecuencias para transmitir las ondas portadoras. Históricamente, la tecnología analógica ha sido la principal utilizada para emitir televisión y administrar las llamadas telefónicas.

Más allá de la tecnología digital en sí, la digitalización ha tenido un enorme impacto en la cultura popular y las prácticas sociales. Hoy en día, las personas utilizan herramientas digitales para comunicarse entre sí en los teléfonos móviles, las redes sociales, etc. Hoy en día, la tecnología digital se utiliza principalmente para los medios de comunicación. Esta forma de comunicación requiere la transmisión por satélite y fibra óptica. Los datos digitales se convierten desde un ordenador mediante un módem a señales analógicas a través de las líneas telefónicas. La tecnología digital también se utiliza para convertir las señales telefónicas analógicas en información digital en los ordenadores. Las herramientas digitales, aunque invisibles, son ilimitadas y mantienen vivo el mundo digital.
