Presentation

Koraichi is a calligrapher and a painter. With no doubt one of our most productive and accomplished contemporary artists, Koraïchi was born in Aïn-Bida in 1947.
Studies at the National School of Fine Arts in Algiers (1967-1971)

The work of Rachid Koraïchi draws all his strength from the richness of the letter. Born in a very religious Sufi family, Koraïchi practiced from a young age the use of the sign.

As a child, he attended Koranic school where he learned to reproduce the suras of the sacred book. He is raised in religion until the age of sixteen. Then he decides to give up the practice.
The gestures of the writing, the lines of the letters are undoubtedly engraved in his mind.

When he has to choose his studies, he prefers the visual arts to literature. But literature has never been far away and remained at the very heart of his art.

After 1971, he moved to Paris and took classes at the School of Decorative Arts from 1973 to 1975, then at the Beaux-Arts until in 1977.
From this teaching, he got a sharp sense of technique and an eclecticism illustrated by the variety of the media he uses.
