Alexandre Sassaki was born in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, 1957. He worked as a correspondent in Brazil for the agencies Sipa Presse and Gamma Images. He was a freelancer at Folha de São Paulo and O Estado de São Paulo newspapers, Veja, Isto É and Exame magazines, receiving in 1989 the XV Abril Prize for Photojournalism. Photo editor of O Dia newspaper between 1996 and 1997, when he took over the photographic edition of O Globo newspaper, where he stayed until 2015. He is currently an independent photographer.
