Presentation

Born in 1978 in Lille, Sylvie Catrice lives and works in Rennes. Inspired by her artistic environment, she developed, from an early age, many personal projects, placing woodworking and imagery at the heart of her thinking. She trained on her own and discovered many skills, from her father's wood workshop to the relationships she had with the architects and photographers around her.
She then chooses to combine the materials. She pushes the limits of realism where the image becomes a pretext. The photo as a first step before a long phase of transformation. Gradually, under brushes and brushes, it fades, transforms into an abstract object to merge with its support. The organic aspect gives it a new, unexplored dimension. She favors large formats and enjoys upsetting the codes between painting and photography.
It is an asserted femininity that guides the artist in her approach, and her fusional and personal relationship with the material.
His gaze focuses on the gesture, the sensuality or the fragility of an attitude.
Capturing the movement that embraces and echoes the lines and irregular nuances of the wood, to freeze in the moment.
