This experience made her have daily contact with professionals from the world of the image, which enriched her visual culture. It was then obvious for her to turned to photography.

Her collections have something in common, the taste of the artist for strong concepts, light and colors. Her most recent works, depict barbie dolls, which have particularly mark the critic. Thanks to her dolls, the artist revisits the history of art, and with it the place of woman in society, in history.
The clothes of these "women-dolls" are painted on their bodies so that Nothing can shield their legendary measurements. The decor and the portraying create the mood of a painting, with occasional liberties in the details, they are photographed and then treated with new digital techniques.

Catherine Théry has made out of the barbie doll a strong, intelligent woman, who sometimes borrows the masculine codes, but it asserts her feminity, in total freedom. The artist wanted to transmit a message and to give it to this caricature of woman which is often mocked and regularly offered to legions of little girls.
