Presentation

For twenty years, Hyttenhove has appropriated what is around him, blends it with his own history and reappropriates it. He operates a narrative work that takes as much from the art of the Quattrocento as that of the eighteenth century or the clear line comics. Unlike many artists, Hyttenhove does everything himself. He is first of all a sculptor and draftsman. He sculpts stone, and resin holds no secrets for him. As for the painting of the sculptures - or their patina - he is also the one who does it, so as to see the work being born precisely as he had in mind before its realization. The pop aspect of some of his works is therefore a trompe-l'oeil since most of his work finds its source in a classical culture and a technical mastery, both out of the ordinary.
