Presentation

A graduate of Met de Penninghen, Tristan Marechal began his career as a painter in 1988. A large part of his works is devoted to portraiture.

"Like a writer, to paint or portray a character is to try to extract the essence, to translate a character. So at the same time it is the most interesting and the most difficult thing there is."

The man being contrast and duality, heavy armor often rubs shoulders with fine lace in the series "Women with helmets". It is this tension which best illustrates the human being, but that the whole is harmony.

In the series "Perspectives", Tristan Marechal opens his travel diaries to us, in search of a burst of humanity, "even in its darkest". A singular vision of the world between fantasy and realism, everyday life mingles with moments stolen out of time, and yet so familiar.

The committed artist wants to be resolutely constructive. He challenges us even in our dreams with a certain sense of dramaturgy, mixing mystery and suspense to make us react. Have a nice trip.
