Italian-Dutch trans-media artist born in 1983 in Milan, Marta Nijhuis has lived and worked in Lyon since 2009. Her work, focused on the theme of cultural memory as a form of identity rooted in the notion of "difference", has been presented in numerous art galleries and cultural centers in Europe and the United States.
Among these, the Cappelletti Gallery, the Ponte Rosso Gallery, the Cercle de la Presse, the Netherlands Consulate (Milan, IT) and the Giorgio Correggiari Foundation (Levant Bari Fair, IT). In France, she has exhibited at institutions such as the Manufacture des Tabacs de Lyon (Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3) and the Maison de l'International de Grenoble, as well as at the Galerie Françoise Besson (Lyon).
In 2015 and 2017, she was also artist in residence at the Fine Arts Center at the University of Rhode Island in the United States. She is the author of literary and theatrical texts and teaches the Philosophy of Art and The Theory of Images in several universities in Lyon.
