Presentation

A young self-taught artist, Didier Merceret has been in the art of painting since he was very young. When he was five, he won his first prize in a drawing competition organized by the midi libre. Guided by his father, himself a painter and decorator by profession, he discovered the universe of shapes and colors. However, despite his nascent passion, he would not be allowed to grow up in the field and attend the fine arts.

Unsurprisingly, he followed a course as a schoolboy and then as a student, however reserving long moments to devote himself to his favorite art. Directed towards studies in accounting and commerce, he developed only years later his real talent, as evidenced by the realization of many portraits.

Originally from Perpignan, he never tires of resuming surprisingly realistic sea and mountain landscapes. Searching in turn for detail and precision of lines, exactness of tones, play of light and shadow, he thus restores truth in all its diversity. It results from it an ennoblement resulting from a full transcendence. Now creating only personal compositions, it is in a more surrealist and symbolic style of painting that he will end up asserting himself.

"Any work of art which transcends reality is an apparition towards the sublime".

Possessing a remarkable technical mastery, it is a world often filled with dreams and sometimes even mysticism that the artist makes us discover in his paintings. We find an omnipresent symbolism at the very heart of his creations, thus forcing us to seek the message he wanted to convey to us. Strength and softness come together in a very elaborate pictorial research and a palette of colors rich in nuances and accompanies a very precise realization in the details. The light that emanates from his paintings is powerful and in a way defines deep convictions about the meaning of life and its human values.

"Light, whatever it is, is the realization of our dreams ..."
