Born in 1947 in Gifu, Miwako Yamagushi is a Japanese painter. She lives and works in Spain since 1971.

She studied Fine Arts at the Musashino University in Tokyo. Miwako Yamaguchi obtained a scholarship by the Ministry of Industry and Energy in order to study textile design. After that, she received the third prize at the National Competition of Arts and Craft Design.

Her work is inspired by her daily life. the artist has two favorite subjects: Places devoid of any human presence, symbolizing lost and emptiness; the representation of a part of the human body, the artist exposes herself to become aware and to become a spectator of her own existence.
Her pictorial style is characterized by a work of shades and harmony of colors.The latter is particularly important for Mikako Yamaguchi who names certain of her series by the name of colors such as her series called "Kiiro" which is the translation of the word "yellow" in Japanese.
