Now lives and works in Tokyo, Aruta Soup is known for mixing animation culture, UK-specific black jokes and street culture in his paintings and graffiti. In each work, the artist opens a dialogue on timely issues, both of the society and people's psychological status. The rabbits that appear frequently on his works are reflections of the complex, chaotic and violent world he is living in, as well as forms of his soul, wounded yet desires a rebirth.
While he was 17 years old, he moved to London to study Illustration at the Camberwell College of Arts in London. After coming back to Japan in 2012, he acted as the main visual artist at the Yoyogi Daiichi Gymnasium venue for "room28" exhibition sponsored by H.P FRANCE. He also collaborated with a series of apparel brands, and published the first art book "THIRD EYE" in 2014. He has been actively participating in large-scale exhibitions at Shibuya Seibu, and solo shows in UK, Taiwan. His works have been featured on i-D Japan, MILK, MILKBOY and other magazines.
