He has studied painting at Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade de Lisbon and has exhibiting regurarly since 1996. José Batista Marques has presented many individual exhibitions to name a few: Commodoro, Carlos Carvalho Arte Contemporânea, Lisbon, 2006), Pipocas Imagens Terminadas, (Gallery Municipal do Centro Cívico de Carnaxide, Carnaxide da Misericórdia, Sines, 2004), Panorâmica 28, (Gallery Ara, Lisbon, 2003).
