Eunice Kim

Seoul-based artist Eunice Kim has been honing her skills in abstract painting for a few years now.

Originally an educator, she now fo- cuses on creating bold, colourful pieces, showing a kind of awakening that leads to self-completion and unbinding. She pursues the congruence of her reason and emotion through intense colours and attempts to advance into a new state of being that has no boundaries.

At the upcoming Paris Fair, she intends to use her uniquely bright colours to in- ject vitality and bring comfort especially to those who are suffering from COVID fatigue. Eunice started art at a late age. Unex- pectedly, the process of her work be- came a time for her to meditate. This turned out to have a wonderful im- pact on her. She was able to break from her previous identity, framed in specific traditions, customs, religion, and society, and to awaken and embrace her new self. The images projected in her meditation sometimes sway peacefully like cotton candy clouds floating through trees in her childhood, and sometimes explode when pecked by one of life's snags thus awakening her hidden ferocity. She hopes viewers can see themselves through her work. 'When you look at yourself properly, everything you knew yesterday comes to life in a new and different way.' Thus she strives not to repeat the same patterns. She is looking for ways to be free every day, and she excitedly transfers them onto canvas.
