Biografia
Nato a Toronto nel 1970, David Drebin vive e lavora a New York.
Dopo aver studiato alla Parsons School of Design, divenne rapidamente noto per i suoi ritratti di celebrità, che portarono a importanti campagne pubblicitarie internazionali. Nel 2005 presenta la sua prima mostra a Berlino, passando così dallo status di fotografo professionista a quello di artista, confermato dalla pubblicazione del suo libro "Love and Other Stories". Gli sfondi urbani, da New York a Hong Kong come ambientazioni opulente, sono abitati da femme fatale colte quando la tensione è portata al suo parossismo.
In effetti, il carattere profondamente cinematografico che caratterizza il suo lavoro è il risultato di diversi temi a lui cari: la malinconia, il sesso e l'umorismo. Tanto psicologiche quanto voyeuristiche, le sue opere hanno la particolarità di portare a galla in modo concreto emozioni sepolte in ognuno di noi.
Pubblicati regolarmente da TeNeues, i suoi libri sono accompagnati da mostre nelle più prestigiose gallerie internazionali, da Miami a Istanbul, accanto ad artisti leggendari come Andy Warhol o Helmut Newton. Presenti in importanti collezioni private, le fotografie di David Drebin battono regolarmente record, come "Central Park", ormai fuori stampa, venduta per 78.000 dollari ad Art Miami nel 2010. Più recentemente, l'artista ha presentato la sua ultima serie di monografie intitolate "Beautiful Disasters". , anch'esso oggetto di pubblicazione.
