Presentation
Artist Dran was born in 1980, in Toulouse. At a young age, the artist discovered his love of art and he went on to join the Beaux-Arts. The artist wasn't able to identify himself in the spirit of the Fine Arts and constantly felt out of sync, without rejecting the teachings he received. As a result, this free-spirited artist finally fled and found fulfillment in street art, with the DMV crew.
His artistic universe is midway between gentleness and provocation, or violence and humor. His characters face the harshness and absurdity of the world which surrounds them. Dran's eye examines and analyses contemporary society through a critical lens. Recurrent themes like the environment, consumption, politics, or religion are dissected in his creations. He uses various techniques and supports, these include illustrations, drawings, stencils, lithographs, paintings, silkscreen painting, and photography. His works are famously used on commercial cartons.
