Biography
Painter and drawer born in Barcelona in 1942. He initiated himself in art since childhood, soon being drawn to surrealist currents and the spirituality of Eastern philosophies. Straddling between a fantastic sense of reality and the depth of dreamlike experiences, Copons' work goes through a phase of abstraction, to emerge into a new stage of lyrical and imaginative representation of the visible world. A founding member of the Taca Der Sant Andreu group (Barcelona), he has held abundant individual exhibitions in Barcelona (Subex Galleries, Picasso Workshop), Palma de Mallorca (Art Nou Sign, Penélope, Gallery 19), Sabadell (Academy of Fine Arts), Lleida, Olot, Vilanova i la Geltru, etc. He also practiced illustration on themes such as García Lorca's "Gitano Romancero," which he interpreted with an allegorical language.
