This exhibition is made up of a sample of photographs from three projects I have worked on. Their themes are different but the one thing they have in common is that they all have oil paintings as their base.
In one case I have taken the entire oil painting and modified it in some way to add current imagery in a mash-up. A couple of these oil paintings spontaneously developed a glitch which was intriguing so I decided to include them anyway.
In the second case I have borrowed some small scenes and figures from oil paintings which I have then embedded in appropriate locations around my condo. My way of "possessing" art work that I like.
In the third case I have used oil paintings to protest the great amount of oil company infrastructure disfiguring the beautiful mountains, ocean and forests on Canada’s west coast. I wanted my photographs to be impactful so I decided to choose background environments that were beyond pristine, perfectly composed and were familiar to many people. I decided to use Canadian paintings of nature as the environment that would be invaded by the oil structures.
