Biography

Hervé Laplace (born France in 1968) aka Herbot is a collage virtuoso, who uses his magical scissors and a juxtaposition of images to create a surrealist universe in which his characters experience an unexpected twist. After 15 years of music and lyrics, between stages and studios (author/screamer/comedian/actor), Herbot sits in front of a screen and doesn't take off for two years, exchanging the pen for a mouse. The discovery of John Hearfield's work led him towards photomontage, he was particularly interested in the pioneers of this discipline, Alexander Rodchenko, Victor Koretsky, Marinus...Under the influence of Max Ernst's collages, Herbot created René Apallec, this character from another century by cutting out newspapers and magazines (some dating back more than 150 years). He has taken part in numerous pop art, street art, comics and festival exhibitions.
