Biography
Born in 1976 in Isère, Frédéric Amodru is a self-taught French painter, also known as Frédéric Ross as a singer-songwriter, singing teacher and TV casting manager.
From the age of 12, Frédéric already had multiple artistic dreams, oscillating between the desire to become a stylist-modeler and that of becoming a singer. It was at this pivotal time that destiny placed in his path Master Florent Gallino, a singing teacher and painter, who opened the doors to the world of music and painting. Subsequently, another inspiring being, Maurice Passemard, a watercolor painter, took the young artist under his wing, giving him valuable advice on the art of drawing. While pursuing a career in music, the flame of painting still burned within him, fueled by his inextinguishable passion.
With the encouragement and support of several artists and friends, Frédéric Amodru finally decided to take the plunge, declaring his activity as a professional painter in the early 2020s.
Frédéric's goal is simple and powerful: to share his passion and his art with the world. While figurative art has played an important role in his artistic journey, Frédéric Amodru has gradually let abstract art take center stage. Abstract art offers freedom of interpretation, allowing the viewer's mind to wander in the meanders of imagination.
In 2022, Frédéric took a new step in his development by organizing three exhibitions and as many openings in the Grenoble region. These events were greeted with great enthusiasm by a large and captivated audience.
In 2023, Frédéric Amodru continues to be very productive, letting his talent flourish. His artistic approach is anchored in a visceral exploration of matter, where acrylic becomes both medium and language.
His works, predominantly abstract and intensely textured in style, are constructed through successive layers, each one bringing its mark to the final composition. The gesture, free and instinctive, plays a central role in his creative process, mixing raw energy and thoughtful precision. Each painting is born from a constant dialogue between control and letting go, revealing a palpable tension between chaos and harmony.
The artist draws his inspiration from the richness of natural elements (the erosion of rocks, the ripples of water, or even the cracks in dried-up earth) which he reinterprets to extract a deeply emotional dimension.
The colors, often rich and contrasting, interact with the reliefs and textures to provoke an immersive experience, engaging both the eye and the desire to touch.
His work invites the viewer to introspection: abstract forms, devoid of any explicit narration, become the mirror of each person's emotions and thoughts. The artist seeks to transcend the visible, to awaken raw sensations, and to suggest invisible worlds, both fragile and powerful.
Through this approach, he asserts a desire to connect the material and the intangible, exploring the boundaries between the instantaneity of the gesture and the permanence of the work.
