Nathan Zeidman (b. New Jersey) is a painter whose work captures the energy and atmosphere of urban life.

Biography

Initially drawn to art through skateboarding and photography, Zeidman transitioned to painting while preparing his portfolio for art school. He studied at the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia, where he immersed himself fully in painting, finding it to be a way of deeply engaging with the world.

After a year dedicated to painting and honing his craft, Zeidman moved to Los Angeles, a city that immediately influenced his artistic approach. Embracing the freedom of the West Coast, he began creating large-scale oil paintings on canvases up to 15 feet wide, inspired by the vibrant neon-lit streets and diverse urban landscapes. His ability to pull over anywhere—from Sunset Boulevard to Figueroa Street—and paint life as it unfolds has earned him a reputation as a dynamic and intuitive painter.

Described as a "runaway painter" by his mentor, Roger Herman, Zeidman brings boundless energy to his work, capturing the immediacy and movement of the city. His teaching experience as a graduate student has reinforced his passion for both painting and education, and he hopes to one day inspire the next generation of artists as his own professors did for him.

Currently an MFA candidate, Zeidman continues to push the boundaries of his practice, allowing new ideas and influences to shape his evolving body of work.
