Anhäufung von Gebäudefassaden
Die Architekturvon Gebäuden einzeln betrachtet, ist zwar beachtenswert, aber nichts prägt das Stadtbild mehr als die Ansammlung aller Gebäudefassaden. Ob sie nun eine potenzielle Leinwand für Street Art oder eine bewusste architektonische Gestaltung ist, die Fassade inspiriert Künstler. Giovanni Antonio Canal (Canaletto) hat mit seinem Werk Der Canal Grande an der Kirche La Salute (1727) die Bedeutung der "Veduta" (it. Ansicht) hervorgehoben. Die italienische "Veduta" und jeder Versuch, sie einzufangen, verdeutlicht nicht nur die monumentale Perspektive der Gebäude an den Ufern Venedigs, sondern gibt auch einen Vorgeschmack darauf, wie die Stadt wachsen kann. So wie das Stadtbild in der Geschichte gemalt wurde, so hat es sich auch verändert, verschoben und ist über sich selbst hinausgewachsen. Mittelalterliche Städte werden oft metaphorisch als "Lasagne" bezeichnet, bei der Schicht um Schicht der Architektur übereinander liegt oder sich an der Oberfläche zu den Straßenansichten zusammenfügt, durch die wir uns täglich schlängeln. In der Werkauswahl von Artsper lenkt Marion Zimmermann die Aufmerksamkeit auf dieses Merkmal der urbanen Landschaft, während Logan Hicks in den 1990er Jahren mit seiner Schablonenarbeiten Pionierarbeit leistete, indem er die Gebäudefassaden der Städte, die er in seiner Straßenkunst erkundete, in Schichten anhäufte und so ihre vielen Gesichter offenbarte.
