Presentation
After the success of an exhibition in the Chartrons district at the Wilhelm Blais Gallery in February 2020, the gallery owner affirms the work of the artist Alexis Alary. And, presents it for two weeks in a mythical place of Bordeaux artistic creation: Espace29. Since its creation in 1995, Espace29 has evolved and asserted itself as a contemporary transdisciplinary space, dedicated to collaborations and experiments. Halfway between the gallery, the art center, or the run-space artist, Espace29 is a place of co-living, close to the artists, which has helped to stabilize an artistic territory of Bordeaux. more dynamic and more human.
______________

“Alexis Alary, painter, self-taught turned professional. A polychrome palette that fulfills its function with the happiness reserved for blenders of great wines. The blues, browns, blacks, pierced with white, sometimes quite cloudy, on large prepared canvases, concede the unexpected. The adventure felt during a singular, disconcerting writing makes me tell you that Alexis expects nothing from you because he expects everything from you. »
Christian Jean dit Cazaux From the National Academy of Sciences,
Belles-Lettres et Arts de Bordeaux
______________

Born in 1991 in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, Alexis Alary arrived in Bordeaux in 1998. The autodidact worked as a cook before moving to become a painter and describes his two passions as working bases to achieve alchemy: “To create a dish filled with memories and flavors is to decipher the emotion of taste ... To create a canvas is to decipher the mysteries that exist in us; such is my quest in painting. Alexis saw her hyperactivity by honing her curiosity about the mysteries of humanity, where words cannot express her own thought. His painting works like a cartography of his quests, drawing lines between logical, spiritual and metaphysical world. His painting creates codes that - as in African and Mexican art - link the memory of a symbolic past to the contemporaneity of street language inspired by the explosive instinct of Jean-Michel Basquiat and the subjective thought of Salvador Dalì.
______________

“Between complexity and structure, a line emerges to link light and darkness. The artist uses large canvases that breathe energy, the contradiction between colors and lines, using traditional techniques, such as glazes, waxes, pigments and sfumatos, daring to link them to very contemporary features ».
