Presentation
From hyperpornography to trash TV through continuous “disinformation” channels, Generation Z is evolving in a society where the 3 S of marketing: Blood, Sex and Scandals are no longer commercial levers, but a simple reality of a lamentable banality. Faced with this observation, it is legitimate to wonder about the relationship that individuals of this age group can maintain between, on the one hand, this uninterrupted flow of visual, sound ... psychological attacks and, on the other hand , the societal and geopolitical challenges of tomorrow. The “new silent generation” comes out of its silence through these four artists who put in images the saturation of stimuli they are confronted with, revealing the lack of hierarchy to which their brain is inevitably subject. Random sexual representations, poverty, violence, disenchantment or permanent incitement to consumption, such is the visual everyday life represented here: a very real virtuality no longer only conveyed by television, but by everything and everywhere. Capture these moments, expose them crudely, analyze them without judging openly or flee them in a very conscious way by representations as dreamlike as overloaded; are all ways for them to take note, to move from spectators to actors, into true opinion leaders of a two-stage communication. Double storey, both literally and figuratively, since it is by going down to the basement of the gallery - like a dive into unconscious analysis - that the leap of consciousness is revealed. Hugo Andrade's masterful installation, like veritable water clocks representing the passing of time, occupies all the space. This flowing “blood” is the same for everyone, but different for everyone. Rather than burning life at both ends, the aspiring visual artist prefers to frame this timeline with two portraits that are dear to him like a dialogue between two ages: this woman whom the horrors of the Khmer Rouge have only made more beautiful and these Cambodian children who are in a hurry to fight for access to this freedom of expression and information, which we now seem to fear. A poignant and colorful exhibition, which avoids the trap of garish patchwork, presenting the precise work of a new generation that impresses with its maturity. An example for some and a snub to the oldest who no longer believe in youth.
