Turf

Born in Marseille in August 1966, Turf owes his vocation to the discovery at 18 of his first adult comic book, Les passagers du vent de Bourgeon. He left his studies of architecture (which allowed him to develop his acute sense of perspective and decor) to enter the School of Beaux-Arts from Angoulême, which emerges three years later diploma and mention in his pocket.

After an ephemeral passage in the world of animation, Turf embarks on the 9th Art by co-signing with Joel Mouclier the first volume of the series Les Remparts d'écume, which he also realizes the storyboard. It was in 1993 that the first album of La Nef des fous appeared, its major artistic achievement. It reveals all the extent of his talents as a precise storyteller, but also a meticulous draftsman and brilliant colorist.

In 2009, after seventeen years of constant creations around the unique world that he fashioned, Turf finally delivered all the secrets of his Nef in a seventh album, Terminus. In addition to the 377 comics strips that make up his series, Turf has continually enriched this world of posters, ex-libris, statuettes, puzzles and postcards for the enjoyment of his readers.

In 2011, he started a diptych with the provocative title Sex Shop, in which he had fun with the reactions of a small village confronted by the arrival of a traveling sex shop. A funny, colorful and endearing universe as only Turf knows how to create them.
