Jean-Louis de la Happy Funky Family

Born into a creative family, Jean-Louis began to take an interest in painting very early and at the age of just 16, he made copies of paintings by great masters in pastel.

This taste for painting comes to him from his mother and his grandmother who practiced painting as a hobby.

He produces very colorful canvases that are part of the free figuration movement.

His painting is not only contemplative, to make a painting is both to build a space and to be part of a story, to tell. An attitude, a feeling or an atmosphere must be enough to create a life, lives in the same place. Thus each painting is a firework of events served in a kind of creative alchemy.

Jean-Louis works mainly in the old fashioned way: several preparatory drawings, sketches of volumes and layout on canvas, then acrylic and posca. No collages, no stencils or photos or other printed or other processes.

Jean-Louis dazzles us with his shimmering colors. The faces of his subjects fit perfectly into an ensemble that is nonetheless loaded. You can spend hours observing his paintings down to the smallest detail.

His works each time tell a story in a way that is both unacademic and yet totally harmonious.
