Presentation

Seemingly made in the moment, Seven's works are immediately recognizable because their form, accessibility and the emotion they evoke seem so familiar. To make, remake, and imprint movement on the line in order to invent his signature is Seven's obsession for 10 years. The artist works tirelessly on his line in search of an essential, almost elementary form, to give birth to his characters and invent his own narrative signature. It is at the beginning of the confinement, while the world is closing in, that the people of Seven are displayed outside the walls of the capital.

These antagonistic figures embody Seven's topsy-turvy world. One with rounded forms, with the fragile allure of a cocoon, without arms or feet to escape, seems swaddled in her fate. The other, with its sharp, dry, pointed line and face formed by a triangle, evokes warrior masculinity. Conceived by the artist as two pieces of the same whole, their meeting is often singular. Seven blows on the lines to move the borders of the narrable: the choice of geometric forms allows to make the subject visible and accessible, letting pass the emotion and a certain form of candor without any artifice.his incisive white line drawn on black paint, reminds us of a process that is not without reminding "Subway drawings" of Keith Haring. The simplicity of Seven's line serves a story deeply rooted in reality, giving substance to those who make the front pages of the news or to scenes of renaissance painting. Seven's characters call out to the viewer. Here or elsewhere, now or yesterday, black or white, the sincerity of Seven's work draws the shifting contours of our humanity.

A self-taught artist, Seven explores different drawing and painting techniques in Parisian artists' squats such as 59 Rue de Rivoli, the DOC or more recently the workshops of Paris. For three years he accompanied refugees in drawing workshops to help them free their speech. Since the confinement, the characters of Seven have taken over the walls of Paris. Accompanied by a text calling out to passers-by, the figures of Seven are embodied in scenes of everyday life as well as in those of oppressed people whose lives have been shattered by horror, whether they are from Africa, Syria, Ukraine or elsewhere.
