The drawing: I like that its realism leads to a form of strangeness, beyond illusion and trompe-l'oeil. I have always had the somewhat delirious desire to rediscover, in pencil and pastel, this beautiful paradox of images by Murnau, Hitchcock, Bunuel, Gus Van Sant… Creating images is a bit like making ghosts and, at the same time, anticipate nostalgia. Black and white: it obviously comes from childhood, old movies, family photos and ghost stories. Fiction, memory: they are linked. Sometimes my real memories are mixed with bits and pieces of films or paintings. It is this sweet delirium of memory that interests me: all in slips, in superimpositions, in sutures, in unexpected rhymes, it suggests a "mental cosa" which would proceed from the musical collage, from the sample. As a designer, and although not using any technology, I feel close to certain composers of electronic music.
