Presentation

Anne Poirier, born in 1942 and Patrick Poirier, born in 1942. They live and work between Paris and the Provence (South of France).

After their studies at École nationale supérieure des Arts décoratifs in Paris and numerous trips to the Far East, the Middle East and the United States, Anne and Patrick Poirier spent three years at the Villa Medici in Rome. From the beginning of their stay, they decided to work together. Abandoning their egos, they bring together their ideas, their sensitivities, and their works signed by both of them become the fruit of this collaboration.

They are no longer lonely artists working in their studios in search of a personal language, they are travelers, explorers and surveyors of sites, of civilizations, religions and different cultures. Refusing the conventional roles of "sculptor" and "painter", they become "archaeologists" and "architects", and these roles are interchangeable according to the circumstances.

Their practice is no longer a matter of formal research but, through an artistic approach of the humanities, it becomes a trip in the MEMORY that they perceive as a fundamental value, which is the basis of the intelligence between the beings and between the societies. Children of the war, they denounce the fragility of civilizations and cultures, and their aesthetics is often that of the FRAGMENT of RUIN, of CATASTROPHE. Multidisciplinary artists, they do are interested in any form of artistic expression.
