Klaus Guingand

Klaus Guingand is a born artist. This is an unconventional and multidisciplinary French artist, born in 1962. Extremely cultivated his creative power is phenomenal,he consecrates his life of art. He was encouraged by the famous American art dealer Leo Castelli and supported by the famous art critic Pierre Restany two myths in Art history of the 20th century.

For his creations Guingand uses all the techniques and existing media with the aim of his artworks is not aesthetic but criticism or simply the truth. The subjects of his artworks are eternal questions; time, God, truth, humanity, reality, power, death, our fears. His works often engaged, prophetic or cynical.

In 1987, he began his work in the shadows, for 10 years, 200 international celebrities posed for him. In 1995, after the Louvre exhibition (Charles V ditch), it gives 100 works "shadow" to help the fight against AIDS. He finished this work with 20 international contemporary artists posing for him as Jasper Johns, Yayoi Kusama, Miquel Barceló, Pierre Soulages, Brice Marden, Erwin Wurm, Wim Delvoye, Bernar Venet, Dennis Oppenheim, Jan Fabre, Pierre Alechinsky, François Morellet, Gottfried Honegger, Jacques Monory…
