Presentation

Thierry Alet is French born, New York and Guadeloupe based artist. Graduated of the Pratt Institute New York in 1994. His "Periodic Table" series was produced with a grant from the Andy Warhol Foundation managed by Small Axe in 2012. He has exhibited worldwide and recently in the memorable exhibition in NY, Caribbean: Crossroads of the World. For the last decade Thierry Alet has been writing vertically on street walls, gallery walls, house walls, canvases, cardboards, plywood boards and almost anything that is large enough to touch with his brush.

First he wrote souvenirs from his childhood. Soon he started borrowing text from authors in an effort to separate the meaning of the words from the meaning of the graphic act of writing. Recently, he increasingly chooses texts for geopolitical reasons. For him, the act of vertical handwriting is the highest form of screaming for one’s existence. His work is part of several private and public collections in France, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Belgium, USA etc.
