The strange and haunting universe that William Ropp summons through his lens seems familiar to us, although we have never seen the objects or the people he photographs. It is the beautiful, the erotic and the frightening of this disturbing universe that attracts and intrigues. His work is rich in intoxicating substances: beauty, sex and fear, three of the most powerful drugs of humanity. Ropp's genius is to bring unexpected truth to every subject - and this has always been the gift of great art.
