Patrick Paufert's painting is expressive and intense, even heartbreaking. He attaches himself to the human figure whose appearance he transforms into a form stretched towards an expression that goes beyond reality.

The painting records the raw aspect of the sensation that the world transmits to the author. The animal, sometimes present in his work, is treated with a distanced look that nevertheless expresses a certain strangeness in the poses, such as this bull lying on its back with its legs in the air.

Playing on thematic and graphic oppositions, the figures are generally placed on large monochrome backgrounds that absorb depth, although sometimes disturbed by more discreet colored spots in order to unify the whole composition. The pictorial touch is nervous, sharp, and allows to define by multiple lines or hatching, the limbs, the skin.

She updates the flesh beyond the conventional appearances of the portrait. His painting has this duality of being attractive, intriguing and confusing, as if unknown impulses were contained in a carnal envelope that the artist searches and dissects in order to account for the complexity of sensations that a being has.

It is a pictorial work which conceals a force in the expression by a permanent creative research, an endangerment beyond any seduction.
