Presentation

Jules Andrieu is a student at the Karlsruhe Academy of Fine Arts, Sculpture Section, under the famous Professor Stephan Balkenhol. In this work, Jules Andrieu does not seek to reproduce an animal, but to project his interpretation of it into contemporary art and to suspend it in a way in time, "camouflaged" or caught among these stalactites such as his series of granite and limestone entitled "Primary Tensions, Poetry-Density" (in German Gedicht-Dichte) where the artist shows his intensities, wounds, scars and strengths.

His obsession with gravity, the forms of "Tensions" and verticality can be felt in almost all of his produced and future works . His artistic influences appear with the works of Alberto Giacometti, Lucio Fontana, then develop mainly with Urs Fischer or Stephan Balkenhol. The Donkeys are the starting point of this semi-figurative bestiary series and are synonymous with variations of the segment and the compression of time as shown by Giacometti or Fontana.
