Charline Bourcier is a French contemporary artist born in 1987. She lives and works in the South of France.
If her works raise various subjects of society such as the energetic stakes of our century, pollution, migratory phenomena in the Mediterranean, they give especially to see ambiguous scenes, often marked by madness, shifts, unexpected associations.
She works on a figuration that claims to be an image while altering it through the affirmation of plastic processes (covering, unfinishing, drips).
The notions of wavering and dislocation are dear to her research. She wants the eye of the spectator to wander through a pictorial space where different strata are intertwined, between figuration, the illusion of a space in depth and the affirmation of the materiality of the painting, the flatness of the canvas.
Since 2017, she has been using charcoal again, an extremely volatile and sensitive tool capable of provoking numerous erasures and appearances of the image.
