Didier Ferré

The art and the way.

After a career in the world of cruises and hotels and restaurants, Didier Ferré discovered and studied sculpture in Paris 17 with Marie La Varande. He moved to Rivedoux-Plage on the Ile de Ré and enriched his sculptural career with Jean-Paul Demesy, visual artist from La Rochelle.

The Art and the Way of modeling the earth, of sculpting stone, wood, are influenced by his travels to the other side of the world but also and above all by Amedeo Modigliani in whom he discovers clean and abstract looks and curves.

Multiple works are made of fine-grained limestone in a light beige color with marine fossils and iron oxide nodules from the Ile de Ré dating from the Upper Jurassic (152/157 million years). Coming from the ancient cliffs around the Charentes Maritime forming the islands of Ré Oléron, Aix.. The artist recovers blocks of limestone when farmers uproot the old vines near the sea. Once polished, this limestone is unique and incomparable, it has a visual and tactile similarity between marble and ivory which gives his works unique, timeless pieces, which allow him to assert his style which evokes reverie and travel.

In 2011, he took part in a competition where he presented a wooden figurehead, "Le Corsaire", to the Musée de la marine in Paris.

In 2018 and 2020 he exhibited at the Sénac de Meillhan gallery in La Flotte en Ré. In 2019, he exhibited at the en apARTé gallery in La Rochelle as well as at the Concept Store Gallery in La Baule. To date, he is present at the Karry Gallery in Paris.
