Emä Léonie

From 1995 to 2011, I worked as a set designer or director, for television, theater, opera or cinema. In parallel, I carried out various projects as a visual artist for sets (painting or volume) for private or public commissions.

In 2012, I followed a one-year training in ceramics with the aim of teaching it and followed many workshops to complete this training. Since 2013, I have been teaching since 2013, to children and adults alike, and I am in charge of workshops for the art school Terre et Feu, Paris 14e. 

I started ceramics by making crockery and objects with earthenware, stoneware or porcelain. My ceramic sculpture work started in 2014. I showed my productions only from 2018. 

Hybrid creatures, often heads of animals, formed a heterogeneous bestiary with special attention to skin material and colors. In June 2018, I started to show my pieces on Instagram and to artist friends who encouraged me. 

As time went by, my work evolved with series of characters. I show brutal, maladjusted, fragile or offbeat beings.
