Presentation

Emmanuelle Pellet studied Art History at the Ecole du Louvre and at the Sorbonne in Paris. As a professor of Art, she taught from high school to university before working at the Louvre Museum. Her taste for the old masters inspires her painting and her work as an illustrator for children's books or the women's press in the countries where she has lived (Luxembourg, Mauritius, Singapore).

Very sensitive to education, she paints childhood, a childhood out of fairy tales: interrupted stories, disenchanted dreams, her snapshots of life radiate a strangeness marked by anxiety, fragility, innocence and sweetness. In these mirrors that she holds up to the viewer, she invites everyone to rediscover their childlike soul and to reflect on the ethical questions concerning the world we are leaving to the next generations. The masterpieces of the past are landmarks: she imagines what their creators would have painted in our time, wondering what we retain of their demanding technique, of their plastic sensuality.

She works with acrylics, superimposing numerous semi-transparent glazes to obtain effects of depth and reflection, translating the warmth of a skin and capturing the color of a spirit.

Her fictions, smooth and disturbing like mirrors that reflect implacable truths, invite one to travel to the boundaries of taste, culture, reality and life.
