Anne Gaiss was born in 1976 in Nantes. Between macrocosm and microcosm, the universe of Anne Gaiss draws from the sources of the invisible. Whether it is the internal structure of matter revealed by science, or celestial matter lost to the confines of space, this is indeed a quest for its mysteries on the paths of consciousness. , the artist becomes a ferryman, a shaman, the one who allows us to see “through”, “beyond” our reality. Inspired by alchemist writings, she recreates the world, from a unity that has become duality then split under the blade of the scalpel, from darkness to light, she plays, transforms, metamorphoses, transmutes the visible to bring out its quintessence.
The alchemist Martin Ruland said that “the imagination is the star in man, the celestial or super-celestial body”. Impalpable, subtle, spirit becomes form, form becomes matter, matter becomes consciousness. For the alchemist, metal has a soul, that's what the artist reveals to us in these papers. Their surface covered with metal becomes a mirror of the soul, the chasing takes us to the back of this one.
"Know yourself and you will know the universe" was the maxim of the temple of Delphi. Behind the exploration of the nature of matter, the artist proposes here in the manner of the alchemist to project, as Jung suggested, the unconscious into the darkness of matter in order to illuminate it.
The deconstruction of the void for the reconstruction of the form. The finely lifted and openwork skin gives us a world of emotions and sensations, the emergence from the void of the work of a "sculpture of the living", a sumptuous undulating, vibrant, luminous creation. The vibration of the scalpel at the origin of the form, the light playing on the metal at the source of the anima mundi.
