Fabien Saliman

Of Franco-Mauritian origin, Fabien Saliman was born in Reims and grew up and studied in the Bordeaux region. He obtains a Masters degree and a Capes in Plastic Arts then realizes many exhibitions in metropolitan France and on the Island of Reunion confronting his work with the public, looking for his own identity, a special and different touch ... A creative universe rich in references: film, cartoons, comics. Being born in the 80s, Saliman likes to revisit, divert these codes and references known to all: "Transformers, Knights of the Zodiac, Blade Runner, Tron ..." He learns various techniques on wood, iron, glass and other techniques with the sculptor Jacques Franscheschini and produces large-scale pieces during the FRAC exhibitions in Bordeaux. He came to settle in the Indian Ocean more than ten years ago, thus getting closer to his origins and his crossbreeding. Saliman has always been fascinated by the world of art, the culture of art history and mainly sculpture ... This interest in volumes, structures and assemblies, design, the nobility of materials and contrasts, traditional patterns and techniques are found in each of his sculptures. He thus explores different modern or more traditional universes (robots, samurai, etc.) and is passionate about the interbreeding of materials and techniques with often Japanese influences: finesse of details, richness of ornaments, strength and symbolic energy (pageantry of 'animals, plants). Fabien Saliman always seeks to create coherence in his sculptures, in his characters who tell a story, carry an experience, a symbolism.
