Angelo Canevari is an Italian sculptor coming from a long lineage of artists active in Rome since the 17th century. During his artistic career, spanning over 50 years, he used several media, from bronze to plastic, from leather to cardboard. He is best known for his work inspired by themes of classical literature, mythology and ancient civilizations, with a focus on the human figure.

Canevari studied and collaborated with Italian artists Alberto Burri, Ettore Colla, and Corrado Cagli, all of whom will be a major influence in the definition of his work. He has been actively involved in the Roman Art scene of the 60s, when he began showing his work at the galleries “della Cometa" and “del Corso" and started his life long theatrical collaboration with Italian writer Andrea Camilleri. Among the several public commissions of Canevari's work, stands out the artworks created for the Vatican, among which the Bronze Doors of the Cathedral of Belluno and the Vatican Coins.
