Presentation

Photography has always been my great passion, mainly as a speaker and for large companies (eg Rijksmuseum, Amazon). I have had a career in photography for many years, analog and digital. I came to a point where I could no longer feel the excitement and creativity and decided to leave the corporate world in 2014 to fulfill my lifelong ambition to work with my heart and soul, and no longer on a mission. The opportunity arose to buy an old post office (in Olst, the Netherlands). We converted the monument (1879) into a gallery, workshop and house.

I wanted to work again with my hands (I needed to feel the materials). I have always been drawn to old wooden cameras and historic photographic processes. I bought a large 8 "x8" wooden camera and started experimenting with the wet plate collodion process. With this I could go back to the basics of photography.

The wet plate process is exciting and full of surprises. You only have one wet plate prepared and a chance to get it right. Think about the composition, the light, the time and the openness. Everything comes together in one moment. Sometimes that magical moment happens, and then a unique photo unfolds before your eyes!

It is a satisfying soul to work with this process. It gives meaning to the material I use; I can get lost for days in creating images. After developing my collaboration with artisans, trying out different techniques to choose the best way to print is a big part of the creative process.

My work has been featured in national and international magazines, books and newspapers.
