Dominic-Petru Virtosu was born in Bucharest, Romania in 1983. He completed his formal artistic training with a bachelor's degree in painting (2006) class from renowned Romanian artist Florin Ciubotaru and a master's degree in 2013 with professor Catalin Balescu at l National University of the Arts in Bucharest; he also followed a semester as an Erasmus exchange student at the prestigious Hochschule fur Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig where he was guided by the style and color of his teacher Annette Schroter.

The German High School of Artists has proven to be a founding part of his work ethic and discipline - this has led him to continually develop his artistic practice, even after 10 years of employment in the tourism and tourism industry. audiovisual in Romania. The works created between 2009-2013, while the artist was employed in the largest private television conglomerate in Romania, are a strong testimony to this effort: to question its environment and the consumerist tendencies of society at large.

After 2013, his focus shifted to integrating the paradox of image representation versus pure painting - a key path for Virtosu's development. His style merged the two directions into a vivid organic blend in which color and subject are unified and produce an exceptionally powerful image. Each work thus becomes its own path and requires its own technical solutions - both the plein air and the fantasy works have unified in style.

Dominic-Petru Virtosu's French heritage also played a role in creating a strong link with the Parisian cultural and artistic environment from an early age. His travels in the capital of France for long periods where the most important and prestigious museums and exhibitions of the time were easily accessible aroused the curiosity of artists and stimulated his artistic eye from an early age. His French heritage and his mastery of the French language also helped the artist to obtain a scholarship at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Tourcoing in France where he studied art education in 2017-2018; being subsequently employed as professor of painting in the same university to this day.
