Mamady Seydi was born in Dakar in 1970, he now lives in Mbour. A graduate of the National School of Arts in Dakar (1997), he uses installation and sculpture. His work refers to Senegalese proverbs.

Winner at the 2000 Biennale in Dakar, Mamady Seydi began to take an interest in animal plastic. The animal in his work questions and illustrates the orality of African tales and proverbs. He works with iron, paper, fabric.

His work has been shown in solo exhibitions at FNB Joburg Art Fair (2018), Dak'art off, Senegal (2014), Galerie Cargo 21 (2001), Galerie Atiss, Dakar (1999), and at the French Cultural Center in Dakar (1999). He was a resident of the ENAD in Limoges, France, of the Fondation Jean Paul Blachère, France (2005) and of the Artomi in New York (2007).
