Thando Ntobela is part of the UBUHLE collective. The UBUHLE collective was founded in 1999. It is the result of the meeting of Bev Gibson and Ntombephi Ntobela. While settling in the Kwala Zulu Natal area, Bev marvels at Ntombephi's embroidered paintings.
Aware of the difficulty of women in valuing their art at its fair value, she then decided to create this collective, to help these artists come together, to provide themselves with pearls of the finest qualities and to enhance their work through traveling exhibitions. in the United States (including the Smithsonnian Institution Museum) and Europe.
Thus, the women members of the UBUHLE collective, who can now dedicate themselves fully to their art, take back their destiny in hand, regaining their financial independence and their freedom to create intimate and personal works.
