Presentation

I started with the study and research of geometric and anthropomorphic forms. Primitivism and African art are my first sources of inspiration.

My first works evoked archaeological discoveries (cf. “Gerardo de Pablo. La otra cara de la piedra". Litos 1996). The work of the great Spanish sculptors of the period preceding the Spanish Civil War and, in particular, Julio Gonzalez and Pablo Gargallo, have also often inspired me.

The proximity of industrial areas and the activity of metal recycling companies in Ile de France represented a new impetus in my artistic activity with the work of iron. Since 2004, I collect all kinds of materials, and I try a fusion between art and reality. It's not an approach like the Dadaists, and especially Marcel Duchamp, did with "found objects". They wanted the dissolution of art through the exhibition of objects found by chance, diverting them from their function. Me too, I divert them from their primitive function, but it is not a question of a disintegration of the forms but of a construction, not to carry out an interpretation of reality, not to reconstruct reality but for the creation of a new reality, often with a wink, sometimes ironic, sometimes symbolic.

This singular art is, for me, intuitive knowledge, synthesis rather than analysis, inspiration rather than research, subjectivity rather than objectivity. I feel that my current work has a very contemporary character. I do not classify myself in one style or another. My work transports you to a personal universe characterized, on the one hand, by mystery, symbols, energy, humour… and on the other hand by my attitude, which is always open to evolution and change.

I create mainly figurative, personal, unique sculptures. In recent years I have mainly produced works in steel. Steel, as a modeling material, imposes difficulties in the realization of figurative works due to its hardness and its texture. Despite these drawbacks and others, such as its weight, I managed to create works whose main characteristics are: expressiveness, lightness, humor,
irony.
