Presentation

He can be considered a self-taught painter. In the 75s of the last century, Kiko attended the circle of fine arts in Madrid to prepare for his admission to the Higher School of Architecture, he drew almost daily in the classrooms with live models that the institution gave to its partners. These rooms without a teacher offered quick models for notes and slow poses for other techniques that require more time. Kiko always attended the fast models for notes. Kiko returned to school and passed the dreaded subject taught by Salvador Seguí's Analysis of Forms (drawing) chair.

He was then about 20 years old, and then nothing...

In 2005, at the age of 50, he returned to drawing, having already settled in Altea on the Mediterranean coast, where he opened his first studio.

His first works were oil paintings on linen of large format. From the beginning had a certain acceptance, distributed by his friend Eric Lanneau who managed to introduce it to the market in a reasonable way.

After three years, he opened to the public the first floor of his studio in the old and picturesque town of Altea, a time when he left oil and large formats to work with inks on paper.

Over the years, two fundamental people have emerged for the development of his work. First, in 2011, the gallery owner María Correa arrived in his studio and for about 3 or 4 years made him participate in contemporary art fairs in Europe and the United States, for that today we can say that his work is present today in private collections in London, Brussels, Milan, Porto, Madrid, Barcelona, Nice, Berlin, New York, Oslo, Edinburgh and others.

Years later, Jean Marc Sanchis of the Estrella gallery also came to his studio in Altea and took it to Paris and currently manages Kiko's collection.

Kiko's work is currently done entirely with inks, watercolor and acrylic on Lokta or similar paper from Bhutan and Nepal.

Kiko likes to say that her work is absolutely popular.

His work does not need a dialectical or intellectual support, although it absolutely provokes a complex narrative and dialogue between the viewer and the work. These faces speak but above all look and inevitably move the sensitivity of the one who faces them, generating between them a real relationship that changes and transforms over time.
