Ymen Berhouma

Ymen Berhouma was born on April 28, 1976. Self-taught plastic artist, lives and works in Tunis, exhibits since 2006. She works mainly in acrylics by experimenting with the effects of collage and take-off in mixed techniques. An atypical life course means that this artist after a few years in France and in Germany between 1998 and 2004 settles definitively in Tunis. It was only late that Ymen began to take an interest in art. She begins to paint as a dilettante, drawing from the depths of herself, her history, her inspiration, using painting as a therapeutic outlet, constantly seeking to overcome the unspoken and the wounds experienced. His work materializes like an explosion on canvas of jets of relaxed frustrations; a work on matter, shapes, color feeds his concerns giving shape to characters in punishment, macabre ballets, ambiguous relationships, obsessively highlighting the timeless theme of the free woman, her body, her strength, her anxieties thus confusing his work and his being.
