Presentation

Whatshisname is a Polish artist based in London. His pseudonym originated in the Green Day song "Whatshername" and the artist's difficulty remembering the names of other artists. At the age of 7, he made his first digital work using an Atari 130 XE, a precursor of the modern computer. After moving to London in 2006, he supported renowned artists before beginning his own career.

Art is for him a means of expressing what cannot be said; it is a new form of communication that goes beyond words and understanding. He seeks to challenge, shock and push viewers to question themselves.

He is inspired by pop art in his compositions. His balloon dogs, inspired by the artist Jeff Koons, testify to his desire to shock. Indeed, he includes representations of excrement or sexual scenes. He thus addresses taboo subjects and seems to defy conventions. In fact, many of his works denounce the current consumer society, the digital age and our image-obsessed era. He thus creates caricature installations by appropriating internationally renowned artists such as Banksy to denounce the "2.0" revolution.

He uses both traditional techniques and digital tools in his production process. His sculptures can be silver, black, pink, orange... Whether they are made out of porcelain or out of chrome, they always maintain an undeniably modern feel.
