Gwendoline Finaz de Villaine born in 1978 is a writer, singer and painter. As a former student of Radio France, Sciences Po Paris and HEC, she has worked with Michel Fugain, Elie Chouraqui, Roger Louret and Jean-Claude Camus, sung at Folies Bergère, Zénith, for M6, France Télévisions and in several musicals in Paris. At the same time, she wrote a historical and fantastic saga in three volumes, "Les Brumes de Grandville", and released a fourth novel in January 2019, "De Poudre, de Cendre et d'Or", at French Pulp Éditions.

His painting is a music put in paper, influenced by his scenic experience, Cubism, Surrealism and African Art. Passionate with 1920s, she likes to have her «unconscious in the open air» converse with totems in Chinese ink and jugs dancing. Her Japanese works are reminiscent of Man Ray, Akinori Haga, and illustrate the artist’s taste for mixing East and West. Interested in magic, synchronicities and signs, the painter continues her exploration of the work of detail with ink and strengthens her technique of gradients mixing small springs, circles and mineral, organic universe, which she calls «caviar ink».

Hes work has been exhibited at the 12th Venice International Fair, Room Contemporary Art Space (San Marco Piazza) and Palazzo Ca' Zanardi in 2020. The same year, she participated in the Autumn Fair of the Société des Beaux-Arts de Boulogne-Billancourt (Espace Landowski). In February 2021, Gwendoline was selected from the French pavilion of the Biennale d'art du Panama (Universidad de Panama). The city of Garches commissioned one of her work, which was displayed in the streets until August 2021. In 2021, the artist has been selected to paint tank no. 8 of the Les Carmes Haut-Brion winery, designed by Philippe Starck and Luc Arsène-Henry in Bordeaux. His work pays homage to the god Bacchus and is entitled «Divine Balance». The artist will exhibit at the Grand Palais in February 2022 on the occasion of Art Capital.

Collector’s Guide

Imagine it at home

Gwendoline Finaz de Villaine, L'oeil de la danse tatoué

I am a singer, writer and painter. A former student of Radio France, Sciences Po Paris and HEC, I worked with Michel Fugain, Élie Chouraqui, Roger Louret Jean-Claude Camus. I took part in several musicals in Paris, including “Attention Mesdames et Messieurs” at the Folies Bergère in 2005. I then wrote a historical and fantastic saga in three volumes, “Les Brumes de Grandville”, and published a fourth novel at French Pulp Éditions in 2019.

I have always drawn a lot, in parallel to the scene, and I started painting in 2018 after having fallen in love with a Picasso drawing, belonging to the photographer François Halard.
