  • About the artwork

    Artwork sold in perfect condition

Takeru often takes classical figures and translates them in his own way using attractive colours and simple lines which only he has the secret; He then transforms them into super pop and hyper iconic identities which seem almost indifferent to their surroundings.

The Virgin Mary: one of the most important icons of the occidental world. Takeru uses bright pink and blue coloured pencil on paper and Japanese gold leaf paper "kimpaku" to transcribe the halo and some parts of her textiles.

This art piece comes with a wooden frame made in Japan.

Takeru Amano

Japan Born in: 1977

Takeru Amano is a Japanese artist born in 1977.

Takeru has been in contact with the world of art since his childhood, and in 1997, he moved to New York where he studied engraving for three years. Upon his return to Tokyo, he mixed the new influences from the big apple with the Japanese pop culture which gradually lead to defining his own style.

Using classicism and modernity in his creations, Takeru Amaro combines accuracy of the line to an explosive color palette from the pop culture.

His works have been part of several solo and group exhibitions, specially in Paris, Tokyo and Hong Kong.
